Establishment of breeding process and cage farming of Asian sea bass (Barramundi/ Lates calcarifer) for the 1st time in Sri Lanka.
Provided consultancies, training and strengthening of beneficiaries participated in various pilot projects to establish economic and environmental feasibility of sea bass cage farming such as: Pilot Project on Cage culture in Negombo lagoon Phase II, Sri Lanka –German Development Cooperation, Post tsunami ecosystem Restoration Project.
Pilot testing sea bass cage culture in Palakuda lagoon in Thirukkovil (Ampara district) to raise income levels of local fisheries communities and reduce fishing pressure in the lagoon in the Project area.
Implemented “Integrated Aquaculture Project “in the Trincomalee district (during 2010- 2013), a community participated aquaculture project with objective of value chain enhancement of high value sea food, thus fish breeding, farming, processing and marketing of high value sea foods.
carried out series of successful field trials to develop an economical and eco-friendly wet and dry feeds for milkfish and sea bass using waste fish as main ingredient and successfully developed a process and formula of sea bass feed feasible in cage culture.
